This is how it began...
From a humble beginning to a well established fully functional hospital, Good Shepherd Hospital came into existence in 1995 as a mere clinic functioning only three mornings a week. In 1998, a large medical camp attracted more patients. This in turn created a need to purchase dental, x-ray and ECG machines subsequently. Later the clinic expanded and more staff were hired to cater the influx of patients. The hours of operation of the hospital also changed to five full days per week. Since then, the staff and the services offered by the clinic has grown rapidly. The staff members working at the hospital has now grown to accommodate a manager, a paediatrician, three general doctors, a gynaecologist, a dermatologist, a psychiatrist, a physiotherapist, an on call surgeon, two dentists, on call dental surgeon, a dental assistant, six nurses, an x-ray technician, two lab technicians, a visiting pathologist, two hospital receptionists, two pharmacists and various associated administrative staffs.
Today, Good Shepherd Hospital is open 9 AM - 8 PM, Monday to Saturday, offering the best out-patient services in the locality. It proudly hosts a diagnostics centre, facilities for x-ray, ECG and ultrasound scanning, a minor Operation Theatre, and a full fledged pharmacy.
The clinic enables all members of the local community to access good quality healthcare irrespective of their socio-economic status.
What has our team accomplished apart from serving the sick ?
Good Shepherd Healthcare Initiative was formed in response to requests from local community leaders and functions in partnership with local communities. It provides education, healthcare and economic development to marginalised communities based on the principles of human dignity, equality and innate self-worth. Health Mix powders are produced and distributed free of cost to malnourished children and women in nearby slums.
GSHI Healthcare programs includes the training and placement of Community Health Workers, preventative health and hygiene awareness seminars, regional medical clinics (including the Jeedimetla Medical Clinic), medical camps and routine medical check-ups for children in Good Shepherd schools.
